Bring an Anthropic, OpenAI, Google (Gemini), or AWS Bedrock API key on any paid plan for unlimited edits at cost. You pay your provider directly; WriteOne adds nothing on top. Paste the key once in Settings; we validate it on save, store it encrypted, and route your site's edits through it.
By default your included monthly edits are used first, then we fall through to your key. Flip a toggle in Settings to use your key from turn 1 instead. New to AI APIs? Stick with the included edits. Most owners never need their own key.
Common questions.
How does billing work?+
Monthly subscriptions through Stripe. Click Upgrade, enter your card, and you're on the new plan immediately: your edit cap jumps and any new features unlock the same minute. Manage card, switch plans, or cancel anytime from Settings → Plan.
What if I run out of edits before the month is over?+
The site stays published. It's yours and it's live regardless. On First draft, you upgrade. On Signature and Collected works, you have two options: wait for the monthly reset, or add your own AI provider key in settings. Your key bypasses the cap entirely (you pay your provider directly, we add nothing on top).
Why isn't bring-your-own-key on the free plan?+
We tried both shapes and the paid-only positioning is cleaner: First draft is a real trial with a real ceiling, paid plans are the long-term home. Bring-your-own-key is included with Signature ($19) and Collected works ($49) as the "unlimited" escape hatch for power users.
Can I use my own domain?+
Yes, on Signature and Collected works. Add it in Settings, paste the CNAME we give you into your registrar, and your site lives at yourbrand.com instead of <yourname>.writeone.site. SSL is automatic; you don't touch certificates. Your included address keeps working and 308-redirects to your custom domain so old links don't break.
What counts as a site edit?+
One round-trip: you write a request, the site changes (however many sections that touches). Tool calls inside one response don't count separately.
Can I switch tiers?+
Yes. Switching is one click from Settings → Plan and effective immediately. Stripe prorates the difference automatically.
What happens to my site if I cancel?+
Your subdomain and content stay live for 30 days, then archive. We'll export the content for you on request.
Do I own the content?+
Yes. Anything written by you or by WriteOne on your behalf is yours: copy, images you upload, brand tokens, the whole site.
